Sexual Health Week 2024: “Are You Feeling It?”

This year’s Sexual Health Week 9 – 15 September, themed “Are You Feeling It?”, focuses on emotional well-being in sexual relationships and the importance of understanding our feelings in intimate contexts. It’s also a time to highlight the importance of Relationship, Sex, and Health Education (RSHE), ensuring that everyone has the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their sexual health.

At Essex Sexual Health Service, we’re supporting the “Are You Feeling It?” theme with events and resources focused on consent, communication, and emotional safety in relationships. We’re also spotlighting the critical role of RSHE in helping young people develop healthy, respectful relationships. Additionally, we offer dedicated support for parents and carers with a special section on our website here. This space provides essential information, including useful videos, to help them guide and support their children in navigating these important topics.

What’s Happening?

Throughout Sexual Health Week and beyond, we’ll be hosting events that tackle important issues:

  • Consent: Understanding and respecting boundaries.
  • Communication: Learning how to talk about your needs and feelings with partners.
  • Emotional Safety: Recognising what makes a relationship feel secure and supportive.

Ongoing Commitment Beyond the Week

We’re not stopping at just one week. Our efforts to promote emotional well-being and healthy relationships will continue all throughout September, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and support they need.
